France- Uruguay: under 2,2.5 @1.90

France struggled before the world cup and will do here. they have problems to score and that should be even more difficult against an Uruguay team which is know for solid defense.
After a tie in the first group match i would not be surprised if both teams be happy with a low scoring draw here. not loosing is more important than winning in this match-up.

Greece- SOuthkorea under 2@ 1.77

Two very, very organized teams with trouble scoring.
The korean are living mainly from the orgnisization while the greece are knwn for playing 1-0,o-o games in europe. Coach Rehagel played his whole life with these tactics and it made them a surprise EURO champ a few years agao and brought them back to the WC again. so i see no change in tactics here at all.

Argentina- Nigeria: Argentina -1,-1.5 @ 1.95 !! 2 units!!

Argentina is the etter team here no doubt. They also have enough firepower to run the score up, while Nigeria has injury problems on key positions which should not help. still i think Nigeria will try to play with the south americans, as they dont have the most organized defense and that will play even more in the hands of ARgentina.

England- USA: over 2.5 @2.00

dangerous game for England, but i am not to sure about the actual strength of the US team, so i stick to the total. US team showed in friendlies that they are playing high scoring games. they are able to score (and this should be poosible vs. England too) , but struggle on defense. they even managed to play an over vs. Australia which is very rare.
i expect both teams to be on the board here and a very good chance for the over.

Slovenia- ALgeria: Slovenia pk,-0.5 @ 1.98 and under 2 @ 1.89

Slovenia is not a great, but tactical sound european team. They qualified from a group with Slovakia and elimanated Czech as well as Russia in a play-off series.
They have mainly a defensive approach going for the counter attack with star striker Novakovic. If you take their two qualifiers vs. San MArino away, their 8 qualifiers have seen a total of only 14 goals (9-5).
Algeria has shown in friendlies and past matches that they have a big problem scoring. they are also defensive minded, but lack IMO total ability to score especially against a solid european defense. this looks like a 1-0 to me. A win will put Slovenia in a great position after yesterday s England/USA draw and they have shown to be up for the big matches (Play-offs vs. highly favourites russia)

Serbia- Ghana: Serbia pk,-0.5 @ 1.95

Serbia is a very good and physical european team. They will fight with Germany for the top spot in group. I dont understand really the line as Ghana is without Essien a totally different team. They are also very physical but simply dont have the class since their leader and star player went out.

Germany- Australia: Germany -0.5 @ 1.57 !! 2 units!!

Germany even with the injuries of Ballack and Adler are a young and strong team. They are well organised and as all german team s will be perfectly tactially prepared for this match. they have shown good football in recent friendlies and the youngster seem to step up for their injured skipper.
Australia is a tough opponent and definetely no walk over. They play mainly strong defense, but that will not be enough vs. Germany, because it s a strong defense, but not a world class defense. still i expect a tight game with Germany having most of the posession and getting the win. Total and hdc are too tough and probably set at the right numbers that s why i take a German ML win for 2 units.

Germany is known as a very disciplined team and since Klinsmann took over as a coach in 2005 they stress to play solid defense without many fouls. that results in very few bookings for germany in recent years. in all close and important qualifiers they had a max of 1 booking.
not too sure about Australia, but expecting a physical game with Germany leading the attack most of the time Australia should get at least 2 yellows here.
The under would also look good, but ref Rodriguez is known to give many bookings.

Wow, what a team from Germany! They sure dominated today and looked unbeatable.
With a bit of luck they might have easily netted several more. I especially loved their
short passing game, such a pleasure to watch. Nice call on the large ML play, chris.

Holland- Denmark under 2.5 @1.85

Clash oft two european teams. Generally Holland should be the better team but i am not convinced they are so much better than Denmark to bet them as a big fav.<o></o>
I Like the under much more. Denmark qualified in 1<SUP>st</SUP> place from their group stage in Europe playing solid football mainly based on a solid defense. If you take away the two games vs. lowly Malta their 8 qualifiers have seen only 15 goals in total. That is also a tendency you could follow in recent friendlies.<o></o>
I expect a tough match for the dutch here and although they are a high scoring team if they have the space to play their creative football (usually against weaker teams) that will not be the case today. Against other top European teams also Holland tends to go under the number and you have seen in the WC matches so far that especially in these opening matches it s more important not to loose than to win for the teams. Both team will not go for it in the beginning and will try not to make the big mistake.

Japan is not a good team. Weak results in preparation and trouble scoring. Camerron not much better, but they are able to score and have a strong offense. Their main problem is a shaky defense that should even allow Japan to score.<o></o>
I like the side play more than the total (because of Japan s questionable offense), but I expect a inspired cameroon side that should be just too much more the Asians.

Two low scoring and very defensive minded teams here. This should be an France-Uruguay type match.<o></o>
Paraguay with 40 total goals from 18 South America qualifiers and Italy with 17 total goals 8 games. Again both teams will play safety first (that s what they are usually doing anyway) and hope for the lucky punch. Considering the other teams in the group also in this matchup it will be more important not to loose than to win. I see basically max 1 goal here with a good chance of a 0-0 draw.
